Apple outs reported iPhone 6C on its website

A mysterious Apple smartphone posted to the company’s official website has the Internet convinced it could be the successor to the iPhone 5C.
Two years ago, Apple departed from its ritualistic custom by unveiling a less expensive iPhone. It was called the iPhone 5C and its use of bright plastic failed to resonate with Australian customers.
Conjecture on a followup to the 5C has been rampant as Apple’s current range of iPhones is scheduled for a refresh come September.
Apple seems to have validated the speculation by posting a photo of a smartphone not part of its current range to the company’s website. The smartphone posted is clad in plastic and resembles the current iPhone 5C — except in one important way.
The smartphone pictured has Apple’s TouchID technology in-built into the home button, which is a feature absent in the current iPhone 5C.
The shape of the smartphone’s body resembles that of the 5S generation of iPhones. This would indicate the smartphone has a smaller 4-inch screen and should appease customers reluctant to upgrade to a 4.7-inch iPhone 6.
Apple has since replaced the photo of the supposed iPhone 6C with one of the iPhone 5C; however, The Guardian captured screenshots of the smartphone prior to its removal.
The smartphone was pictured promoting Apple’s iPhone lightning dock.
