The graphics are becoming more and more like a movie.
Think of famous battles in modern history and World War One has more than its fair share. Europeans will likely first think of the bloody Somme campaign. But for Australians and New Zealanders, it’s all about Gallipoli – also known as the Dardanelles Campaign. Last year saw the 100th anniversary of the first landing and, well, let’s be thankful that the stakes are a lot lower in a video game. Now you can storm the beach and complete the mission in a matter of minutes. All that other stuff about the protracted Turkish resistance and casualties so horrific that they’ve literally resonated for a century as a reminder about the horrific realities of war, is downplayed.
Whatever, your personal views on the matter, here’s YouTuber TheRadBrad walking through the level in the stunning-looking Battlefield 1.
