Looking for a Unix Admin to join a well regarded team on a contract role

Sydney

Fantastic Opportunity has arisen for a Unix Admin to join a team on a contract basis. Role requires you to assist with project design,development and implementation services, managing systems in BAU.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of Linux, AIX, Solaris and Open Source software
  • Experience with enterprise Linux distributions from Red Hat and Novell.
  • Good understanding of disk and file system related facilities such as LVM, Multipath SAN.
  • Strong understanding of network setup, layers, configuration and facilities (DNS, DHCP etc)
  • Ability to be able to troubleshoot complex technical problems.
  • Ability to come up with innovative ways to address problems, issues or inefficiencies.
  • Knowledge of Linux security such as SELinux, LDAP, NSS, PAM etc.
  • Assist the team leaders with technical and administrative direction when required.
  • Ability to be able to assist with the creation of Linux based solutions, and the QA of provided solutions.
  • Sound scripting and language skills, such as bash, perl, python, php etc.
  • Knowledge of Cluster technologies and shared file systems.
  • Ability to work unsupervised on several activities concurrently.
  • Experience with performance management monitoring and problem identification and resolution.
  • Ability to perform Operating System upgrades
  • Ability to supervise others.
  • Installation, maintenance and support of Linux enterprise distributions.
  • Perform problem determination and resolution
  • Ownership of assigned tasks and prioritise in accordance with workload priorities and team leader's directions.
  • Support project schedule and tasks as assigned, and deliver to the schedule.
  • Implement change in accordance with change procedures
  • Manage problem resolution in accordance with severity and via the project team structure, or as appropriate via problem management processes and tools.
  • Help lead innovation and improvement activities.
  • Mentor and training of SysAdmin staff members.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customer, management and technical personnel
  • RHCE professional certification or equivalent
  • Linux System Administration (Redhat 4,5,6 & Suse 9,10,11 )
