This rather shifty looking individual is the main character that you play in the game. An Eastern European immigrant called Niko Bellic, he has come to Liberty City (read: New York) to live the American Dream. While plot details are sketchy, it’s safe to assume that Niko doesn’t open up a restaurant and live a happy, uneventful life -- expect crime, drugs and bloodshed to feature heavily.
Grand Theft Auto IV -- one of the most hotly anticipated games in the history of videogames -- is nearly here. For the truly dedicated GTA fan, Rockstar Games will be releasing a limited edition of Grand Theft Auto IV. The special release comes packaged with a CD soundtrack, an exclusive art book, GTA keychain and safety deposit box, plus a GTAIV duffle bag to carry it all in.
One of the criticisms levelled at previous GTA games has been the erratic and unwieldy combat system; particularly when it comes to targeting. GTAIV will attempt to address this issue to make fire fights more exciting and strategic than ever before.
As with previous games in the GTA series, Grand Theft Auto IV pays homage to a recognisable real-world city. This time around, the game’s world, architecture and landmarks are all clearly modelled on New York City, as the following screen shots testify.
As its name implies, one of the key ingredients of the Grand Theft Auto series has been stealing cars to drive around in. While details are currently sketchy, we can probably expect more vehicles to feature in GTAIV than ever before.
Interacting with pedestrians has always been one of the highlights of the GTA games. The latest sequel will feature greater variety in character models and more sophisticated A.I.
