Top 10 games for PlayStation Phone

These are the top 10 PlayStation Phone games we'd like get our hands on

  • Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few weeks, you've no doubt heard about the impending PlayStation Phone -- a smartphone designed for gaming. (Read all about [[xref:|its rumoured features and specifications here]].)

The PlayStation Phone seems to be a direct response to the Apple iPhone, which has been steadily gobbling up the handheld game market since its release in 2007. At the time of writing, Sony has yet to reveal any specific game titles, but HD remakes of PlayStation classics seem like a safe bet.

In the following gallery, we shortlist the games we'd most like to see on Sony's new handset.

  • Ridge Racer

No PlayStation hardware is complete without a new addition to the Ridge Racer series. From the PSX onwards, the arcade racer has been something of a mascot for the PlayStation brand (a [[xref:|brief dalliance with Xbox 360]] notwithstanding).

Basically, if the PlayStation Phone doesn't launch with a new Ridge Racer, it isn't a Sony.
  • Wipeout

Wipeout is another quintessential PlayStation title that we'd love to see get the cell phone treatment. The inclusion of shoulder buttons on the PS Phone should make edging around corners a breeze.
  • Tekken 6

As the PSP has amply proven, the Tekken franchise works a treat in portable form. Hopefully, Sony will release a Dark Resurrection-style refresh of Tekken 6 on the PlayStation Phone.
  • Tomb Raider Trilogy

We'd love to see the original trio of Tomb Raider games retooled for the PlayStation Phone as one download. For our money, the original game remains the best in the series -- pointy polygons 'n' all.
  • Ghouls & Ghosts

Capcom's original survival horror game is tough-as-nails to the point of impossibility: which makes it a great 'non-casual' addition to the PlayStation Phone's lineup. (Just try not to toss your phone against a wall in frustration.)
  • Puzzle Bobble(AKA Bust-a-Move)

Ah, Puzzle Bobble. If ever there was a game tailor-made for mobile phones, it was this one. The game is already a [[xref:|proven success on the iPhone]], so there's not reason why the formula couldn't translate to Sony's new handset.
  • Metal Gear Solid 2

Of all the Metal Gear Solid games, MGS 2 is probably the least appreciated by fans. We think this makes it an ideal candidate for a PlayStation Phone refresh. First point of order -- get rid of Raiden. (Let's just say he fell off the boat on route to Big Shell, or something).
  • Kula World

Kula World is a criminally underrated puzzler that originally appeared on the PSX. It's like a cross between Marble Madness and Monkeyball, with all manner of brain-teasing obstacles thwarting the player's path. It's an ideal candidate for mobile gaming, so we're sticking it on the list.
  • Super Monkey Ball
