Japan's Sharp looks to cleaning robots and strawberries to supplement TV biz

The Japanese company says it will try to leverage its LCD technologies to break into new industries

  • A prototype from Sharp's joint research with Qualcomm to create displays based on MEMS (microelectromechnical systems) technology.

  • A prototype display developed by Japan's Sharp that can show high-resolution images on a mirror. The company hopes to use the technology in public spaces as well as home TVs.
