Intel shifts to 64-bits
Intel unveiled a 64-bit Atom chip, which it says will start appearing in phones and tablets by June. The dual-core Atom Z34XX chip, called Merrifield, is aimed at devices starting at $250; the quad-core Z35XX chip, Moorefield, is aimed at higher-end products. Intel promises longer battery life, and better application and graphics performance compared to previous Atom chips. Intel has finished development of 64-bit Android 4.4.
