More than 400,000 smartwatches were sold in the six months around the end of the year, according to NPD

  • The Gear 2 smartwatch closely resembles its predecessor, but with a few notable feature additions.

  • The Gear 2, along with its two stablemates, will inevitably be pushed, nudged, and paraded in front of the greater world at large.

  • The Gear 2 Neo is nearly identical to the regular Gear 2, just sporting brighter colors.

  • Samsung's Gear 2 Neo smartwatch runs Tizen, not Android.

  • Pebble's smartwatches

  • The new Pebble Steel, a high-end version of the standard Pebble, benefits from upgraded materials and a more mature software platform.

  • The Pebble Steel is squat and looks much more square than the original Pebble. It’s also more boxy.

  • The Pebble’s display is black-and-white and fairly low in resolution, but its battery lasts almost a week.

  • The Pebble Steel is made from stainless steel, and available in silver or matte black.
